We LOVE avocados – but what happens when you decide to make homemade nachos and your guac doesn’t quite fit the bill?
It might be discoloured or taste off because you aren’t preserving it correctly, follow our simple recipe with a killer preservation technique to get your guac right every time!
All you need is:
2 Avocados, ripe and ready to mash
1 small red onion, diced
1 tomato, diced
1 garlic clove, crushed
1 level tbsp crème fraiche/Greek yoghurt (optional),
1 tsp lime juice,
Salt to taste,
Pepper to taste,
– Peel and mash avocado until it forms a smooth-ish consistency (we like our guac with a few chunks of avo).
– Add in onion, tomato , garlic, creme fraiche and lime juice and combine together to form the guacamole.
– Sprinkle salt and pepper gradually to the mixture until the taste is just right for you.
The lime will act as a natural preservative and give your guac a fresh, slightly zingy taste. Additionally, if you have some remaining, store in the fridge with a thin layer of water on top; this will form as a protective barrier and allow your guac to keep for up to a couple of days. In all circumstances do not heat up guac, this will cause it to spoil quickly.
