There are so many little tips and tricks you pick up if you bake often, but if you don’t have the time it can be a long and stressful process. When trying to soften butter the go-to is usually leaving it at room temperature for a few hours – but what happens when you decide to spontaneously bake?
Kitchen Hacker recommends:
Place a glass dish/jug in your microwave half filled with water and put it on full power for 2/3 minutes (until boiling).
Meanwhile, chop butter into smaller pieces, place in a microwavable dish and put inside the microwave after you have finished heating the water. DO NOT TURN IT ON.
At this point, your microwave will already be hot and full of steam, therefore softening your butter quickly to just the right consistency!
